3C Teachers

Mrs. Tomkins - Homeroom Teacher

My name is Erin Tomkins and I will have the pleasure of teaching your child along with Mr. Alstad this school year in 3C.

I hope to get to know you and your child very well this year, so I will let you know a little bit about myself first. This will be my fifth year teaching at Strathcona Christian Academy. I am also the school counsellor and I enjoy serving our larger school community in this capacity. Prior to being at SCA, I worked as a Literacy Support Teacher with a variety of grade levels and as a homeroom teacher for Kindergarten and Grade 6 both in the Regular and Logos programs within EIPS. I have my Master’s of Education Degree in Language and Literacy from the University of Alberta and I bring my passion for helping students grow as readers and writers wherever I go.

My husband and I live in Sherwood Park with our four children, and we are thankful that we can raise our family in this community. We attend Heartland Alliance Church and are glad to be part of a church family that continues to challenge and nurture our relationship with Jesus Christ. In my spare time I enjoy running, scrapbooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Warm regards,

Erin Tomkins

Miss McKinnon

My name is Natalia McKinnon, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to teach your child this year in 3C during the afternoons.

This will be my first year at Strathcona Christian Academy Elementary, and prior to joining the team here, I gained experience in a variety of teaching roles, including two special education classrooms. I’m passionate about helping children develop critical thinking skills, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning, and crafting meaningful, inclusive learning experiences. I believe these principles are essential for creating a positive, dynamic environment where every student can thrive.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time in nature, hiking, creating art, playing musical instruments, and spending time with my family. I’m also very involved in my church community and find great joy in serving there. My faith is a core part of who I am, and I am committed to growing more like Christ each day. It is truly a privilege to guide your child in their journey of faith, helping them discover more about the character of God and their identity as His children.

I look forward to working alongside you and your child for a year full of growth, learning, and meaningful experiences!

Best regards,
Natalia McKinnon
